Here’s what Lacey Keighley, owner and editor of Travelers Rest Here, says about TR:
“Travelers Rest is more than a little stopping point along the way to somewhere more important. In fact, it’s become a destination all its own. It’s a growing, vibrant town with a revitalized downtown and a growing economy, which includes a thriving food scene. Travelers Rest’s boom in growth is thanks, in large part, to the creation and success of the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, a more than 20-mile-long rails-to-trails pathway that begins just north of Travelers Rest and runs all the way into downtown Greenville and beyond.
Many folks – more than half a million every year, in fact – hop on the Swamp Rabbit Trail to walk, jog or bike from Travelers Rest to Greenville or from Greenville to Travelers Rest. It serves as a wonderful connection between the two cities. But don’t worry. Even with all its changes, Travelers Rest still feels like the peaceful mountain town it’s always been, where there’s still enough time in the day to slow down and stop what you’re doing to watch that beautiful sunset or to grab a seat out on the porch, sweet tea in hand.
It’s the sort of place where you’re bound to see an old friend or to make a new one every time you visit one of our unique restaurants, shops, attractions or lodgings. Don’t just run through our town. Stop – and rest awhile.“
